Surfing is growing everywhere — more boards, more learners, more passion in the water.
And sometimes, yes… more people in the lineup.
But if you’ve ever surfed here at La Crique Surf House in Bouznika, you already know:
we’re lucky. Our coastline isn’t crowded compared to many surf regions. Most days are smooth, calm, friendly. And when a session does get a bit busier, it’s still nothing like the heavy lineups you find in Taghazout, Bali, Portugal, or France.
Still, mindset matters.
Even here — between Rabat and Casablanca, with several surf spots for all levels — some surfers can feel intimidated the moment a few extra people appear in the water.
This article is for them.
It’s also for anyone learning to surf in Bouznika, improving their confidence, or joining our surf camp at La Crique Surf House.
Crowds Happen. Stress Is Optional.
A friend once told me, “Surfing isn’t enjoyable anymore — too many people everywhere.”
But after years of surfing around the world and now teaching at La Crique, my experience is the opposite.
Even when the lineup looks busier, I rarely have a “crowded” session.
Not because there aren’t people — but because of this simple truth:
Your mindset shapes your session more than the number of surfers around you.
When some surfers see five people at the peak, they freeze.
They doubt themselves.
And the moment hesitation enters… their session is over before it starts.
Meanwhile, the waves keep coming.
A Positive Mindset Makes More Space Than Any Tide
Whether I’m surfing with my son here in Bouznika or alone at La Crique — this is how I enter the water:
-
I greet people with a smile
-
I sit where the energy feels right for me
-
I take my turn with confidence
-
If someone drops in, I stay calm
-
If I drop in by accident, I apologise and move on
-
And when it’s my turn… I commit fully
This attitude opens the lineup. People relax.
Good vibes create good waves.
And on the days a few extra surfers show up — nothing changes.
Confidence + respect = peace and waves.
Why La Crique Surf House Offers a Better Surf Experience
One of the biggest advantages of our surf camp between Rabat and Casablanca is the variety of breaks around us.
At La Crique Surf House, we surf:
1. A-Frame Beach Breaks (beginners & intermediates)
The perfect place to learn, practice pop-ups, and build confidence — even when there are other people in the water.
2. Point-Break Style Rights (intermediates & advanced)
More power, more shape, more space for manoeuvres.
3. Hidden Sheltered Spots
When one place gets busy (rare, but it happens), we simply move.
We have backup options for all levels — depending on tides, winds, and your skill.
This is why guests often tell us:
“It never feels crowded surfing in Bouznika.”
Because it really isn’t.
Respect First. Confidence Always.
Whether the lineup has 4 people or 40, these rules never change:
-
Respect the natural order of the peak
-
Communicate clearly
-
Don’t sit deeper than your skill level
-
When you paddle: go with intention
-
And when the wave is yours: commit without hesitation
Surfing in La Crique, Bouznika, or anywhere between Rabat and Casablanca, the formula remains the same:
Respect will earn you space.
Confidence will earn you waves.
Why I Still Teach My Son to Surf — Even When the Lineup Looks Busy
I don’t avoid the water just because there are people in it.
I want my son to learn:
-
Patience
-
Presence
-
Reading waves and reading people
-
Setting boundaries
-
Taking his turn
-
And not letting fear shrink his potential
These lessons are part of surfing — just like wipeouts and sunsets.
If you ever feel discouraged by busier lineups… remember this:
-
Yes, surfing is getting more popular
-
No, that doesn’t mean you’ll catch fewer waves
-
A heavy mindset blocks more waves than any crowd
-
And here at La Crique Surf House, you always have a spot that suits your level
Mindset matters more than numbers.
Choose openness, confidence, and respect — and the ocean will open for you.
