Introduction
Picking the right surf camp Morocco can be the difference between random sessions and measurable progress. Around Bouznika—between Rabat and Casablanca—you’ll find quieter lineups and flexible spot choices that make learning easier than in crowded southern hubs. That’s why we focus on progress, not just session counts, and tailor the plan to you. La Crique Surf House La Crique Surf House

The quick checklist (what actually matters)
1) Coaching quality & feedback loop
Ask about credentials, water time, and how feedback is delivered (in-water cues, beach drills, optional video review). Look for a coach who adapts to your level day-by-day—not a fixed script.
2) Small groups in the water
Fewer surfers per coach = more waves per person, less waiting, and faster corrections. Small groups also reduce stress at takeoff zones.
3) Spot calls > fixed schedule
The Atlantic changes with tide, wind and period. Camps that move with conditions will put you on the right bank at the right time.
4) Safety & structure
Warm-up, clear briefings, channels, and sensible rules. You should always know where to paddle out, where to sit, and how to exit.
5) Equipment that fits you
Right volume, fins, and wetsuit thickness. A good camp will size your board and suit each day and swap as your surfing shifts. If you travel light, rent gear on site.
6) Recovery & rhythm
Rest, mobility and yoga help you learn more with less fatigue—especially across a week. Pairing surfing with recovery keeps your pop-up sharp on day 5, not just day 1.
Why small groups = faster progress
-
More attempts per hour. More waves per surfer = more reps of pop-up, trim, and timing.
-
Immediate, specific cues. A coach can see your stance, shoulder line, and entry angle and correct it on the next wave.
-
Lower cognitive load. Less crowd noise means you can focus on one improvement at a time.
-
Safer environment. Easier spacing at takeoff; better positioning drills.
This philosophy—measuring progress, not counting sessions—is exactly how we coach at Bouznika. La Crique Surf House
Location matters: Bouznika vs. crowded hotspots
North-Central Morocco (Rabat–Casablanca corridor) has excellent but overlooked spots. You’ll often find friendlier peaks and fewer bodies than in famous southern zones, which translates into more waves and calmer learning. La Crique Surf House
What to ask before you book (copy-paste these)
-
What’s your coach-to-surfer ratio in the water?
-
Do you change spots for tide/wind/period, or run a fixed beach?
-
Will I get individualized coaching (not generic tips)? La Crique Surf House
-
Do you size boards and wetsuits daily? Can I rent gear on site?
-
How do you handle safety (channels, currents, first aid)?
-
Is there mobility/yoga or structured rest to keep me fresh?
What to pack (and what you can rent here)
Bring reef-safe sunscreen, zinc, wax, a windbreaker, and your favorite fins if you’re picky. Wetsuit: 3/2 for most of the year, 4/3 in colder winter mornings.
No gear? We rent boards and wetsuits at our surf school and size everything for your session. Book a tune-up via Surf Lessons or bundle it in a Morocco Surf Camp week.

-
Vague safety plan.
-
One-size-fits-all boards and suits.
-
Marketing about “unlimited sessions” with no proof of actual learning.

FAQs
Is a small group really worth it?
Yes. You’ll catch more waves and get faster, more precise feedback, which compounds across a week.
How many coached sessions per day is ideal?
Quality beats quantity. One focused coached session plus optional freesurf often outperforms back-to-back fatigue sessions.
I’m a total beginner. Will I keep up?
Absolutely. With the right spot choice and a supportive group size, beginners learn safely and quickly.
Do I need my own gear?
No. You can rent boards and wetsuits on site and we’ll size everything for you.
